The Table of Truth Podcast

The Table of Truth is an American Podcast hosted by Cameron T. Moore, Pope aka Popephoenix, Duane Merchant, and Anthony Singleton presented through iTunes. They discuss life from the male perspective while trying to understand women. The names have been changed to protect the guilty. Referred to as the "Black male version of the The View (U.S. TV series)" they present hilarious anecdotes about being 30 somethings in 21st Century NYC. Presenting the best homies you never knew you needed.
==History==
''as told by Pope.''
Who is the Table of Truth you ask? Well, the story begins 3 years ago when Duane and I were part of a hilariously bad comedy rap group called "Brok Records." We a rap group named after a record label and recorded comedy songs. Our tagline was "we can't afford the E" back then we thought that was really funny. After dropping one and 3/4ths albums to critical hood fame and barely registering anywhere else, it was clear we weren't gonna take the world by storm like a black flight of the concords. It was decided that we would hone our comedy skills instead of our rapping skills and turned the BR website into a blog.
Around this time I was working on the Ave with Cam doing graphic design for The Ave Magazine. The Ave was a hip-hop magazine that split between music and social issues. Kinda like the hip-hop Newsweek. It's where Cam and I learned the ups and downs music industry and how Diva people can be both in front of and behind the camera.I told cam about the site and he became a new member of Brok Records. Writing under pen names, GuttaMAN, Struggle and m00k1e, we took to the web and find a small audience for our brand of comedy and the Brok Records Network was born.
In the second year of BRN, both Cam and I lost our 9–5s and drank from the cup of unemployment. Like every other UI recipient we did the only logical choice: we played wow and partied our asses off for a month or so. Once dancing, women and alcohol faded we decided we needed steady income again and founded ROMG with Ridwan Adhami and Edward Ofori. After about a year and a half of sporadic updates and miscellaneous comments we pulled the plug on the BR Network. To be honest our readership didn't reflect how funny we were since were hella funny. It did reflect our lack of promotion and marketing knowledge though. After BRN closed down, everyone kinda did their own thing for a while.
I was working on my freelance and chasing my daughter around my house, duane was graduating college and cam was traveling the world. In the end we really enjoyed working together so we reconvened to plan our next project. I won't go into detail about project since we discuss it in the beginning of episode 13. It was a fun time and it was strictly for adults. Moving on. We ran the site for little over a year before it got hacked and killed any momentum we had built up. At this point we had learned a little more about marketing and promotion.
Near the end of 2009, we got back together and decided we would start our new project. After much debate we came to the decision to start a podcast that would be a reflection of conversations we have over drinks on a weekly basis. We found that a lot men don't have these conversations for many reasons: lack of close circle, embarrassment to express certain feelings or their friends aren't on the same level mentally.
I originally didn't think it would work but after the first few prototype episodes I was sold on the idea. 5 prototype episodes were created before sitting down in Gregory's Coffee (our impromptu base of operations) to record the first episode. On April 1, 2010 The Table of Truth was launched and Season 1 began with "Back for the first time."
